What is The Plantergeist Society™?
The Plantergeist Society is a long standing personal project from the perspective of the Gardener cataloging the plantergeist wherever they may appear.The goal of The Plantergeist Society is to provide accurate plant information blended with fantasy elements, engaging characters and story telling all while softening the blow of losing plants. We want you to learn about the real word plant mechanisms and ecology of plants in a fun, low stress way.What started as a monthly sticker club has and continues to evolve into multiple medias and evolving story lines.
What are the Plantergeist™?
The Plantergeist are the spirits and essences of the plants around us. They exist in a parallel world to us and are impacted and mirror the plants in our world. Sometimes I joke that the plantergeist are "The Ghosts of all the plants I've killed... " but they can be much more than that!For example, a houseplant in our our world has a plantergeist counterpart. Loved and cared for, this plantergeist is a friendly companion. Even when you over love your houseplant and lose it in this world, it's plantergeist is waiting to greet you in the next life.On the flip side, a plant that is introduced to a region outside of it's ecosystem may become invasive and monstrous, creating a plantergeist that embodies these characteristics -- Overgrown, destructive, and harmful to the ecosystem its inhabiting. By helping that plant and returning it to its native environment, that plantergeist can flourish and thrive as the best it can be.All plantergeist have the ability to be the best or most monstrous versions of themselves depending on their situation and no plant is "bad" or "useless". Sometimes plants are just in areas they are not suited to or an area where they out compete the native plants. It's up to all of us to do our best to learn about the world around us and mitigate harm where we can.
